Had a blast at Cinco de Mayo on Cherokee with a super cool lady. Except that I lost my Rx sunglasses. I’m pissed. Now that I think about it, Cinco de Mayo sucked.
WdEdit: Found my glasses! Cinco can go back to being awesome.

Last Saturday was the highly anticipated IndiHop, a festival of sorts that featured 50 craft beers and small businesses in two trendy areas of St. Louis (in fact, my two favorite areas), The Grove and Cherokee Street. My loyal comrade, Ian, and I stood in line on Saturday around 11:30 for the tickets. Unfortunately we had failed to purchase them at the steal-of-a-deal online price of $10, but we were still more than happy to shell out an extra $5 for an afternoon of bar hopping, street walking (not the dirty kind), and people judging. Oh man, I really wanted that special IndiHop mug, too. Only about 10oz, it was a generous size for beer samples, and acted as your ticket to the various businesses and bars that were passing out craft beer from the participating breweries. Spent part of Memorial Day Weekend camping at the Trail of Tears State Park near Cape Girardeau , MO. It feels strange, though, to not be reeking of that familiar smoky campfire smell. Due to the county’s burn ban, no charcoal or fires of any kind were permitted. That was a downer for me, as I find much pleasure in relaxing by the crackling, cozy embers. Before I headed South on 55, I hesitantly made the decision to unplug from the digital world. In other words, no Twitter. Turns out, I had full bars all weekend, so I didn’t even last 10 minutes. People, I am addicted. Instead of unplugging, I created a hash tag for the weekend (#WCT0512 – Wisely Camping Trip 05/12) so we could all tweet our thoughts and follow the stream – that was fun. I definitely lost some followers because of it, as expected. Oh well. It was still a great weekend.
Last weekend my family was all together for Mother’s Day. We went to Antique Row on Cherokee Street to browse the shops (and for me to snap some photos). Read the rest of this entry »

I saw Real Estate on Sunday at Plush. It was a great show for a couple of reasons. First of all, the band itself is pretty fantastic. Very soothing, very talented. I listen to them on a weekly basis. Read the rest of this entry »
I can never get over Elliott Smith’s talent. I have 75 songs of his on my iPhone and I shuffle through them on a daily basis. The funny thing is, no matter how many times I have heard his music, there will be a certain song that stands out in a new way. I’ll play it 30 times and on the 31st turn, it will suddenly mean something new. I guess that’s how all music is in a way. Read the rest of this entry »
This weekend was one for the books. I’ll jump right into it. Friday was the highly anticipated Cursive show at Off Broadway in St. Louis. I expected good music. I had no idea it would be quite as extraordinary as it was. Read the rest of this entry »
I mentioned on the About page that this website is named after one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories, The Naming of Names. Another one of his, which is also found in The Martian Chronicles, is called There Will Come Soft Rains. Read the rest of this entry »
